The Tampa Club Selects Nonprofit for Upcoming Golf Tournament

TAMPA, Fla. – Ronald Christaldi, a partner and business lawyer at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP and president of The Tampa Club, has designated the Lions Eye Institute for Transplant & Research the beneficiary of the 5th Annual Presidents Cup Golf Tournament.

Hosted by The Tampa Club, a club with a progressive reputation that appeals to a multitude of individuals with varied needs and fosters diversity and inclusion, the golf tournament will be held at the Carrollwood Country Club on Monday, October 13 with an 11 a.m. shotgun start.

Christaldi and The Tampa Club selected the nonprofit because it’s a condition he and the Club truly believes in. “It’s an incredible and well-run organization with a rich history that stems from Helen Keller,” said Christaldi. “Not only does Lions Eye restore the gift of sight, it also is the first and only combined eye bank and ocular research center in the world.”

On June 30, 1925, Helen Keller addressed the Lions Clubs International Convention in Cedar Point, Ohio with a compelling speech. It was there that the Lions discovered their mission. The Lions Eye Institute for Transplant & Research was founded as an eye bank dedicated to the recovery, evaluation and distribution of eye tissue for transplantation, research and education. Over the past three decades, Lions Eye has maintained an unwavering dedication to clinical excellence and care delivered with compassion.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be selected as the charity of choice for the President’s Cup Golf Tournament,” said Jason Woody, CEO and president of the Lions Eye Institute for Transplant and Research. “With the selection, the Tampa Club is now assisting a charity that will help the blind and visually impaired right here in Tampa Bay.”

Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick will have a team of attorneys present at the golf tournament.

Tickets are $135 per player and includes 18 holes plus cart on a Dan Maples- designed course featuring Champion Ultradwarf greens; hot gourmet foods and ice cold beer, bottled water and soft drinks served on the course; a goodie bag with exclusive signature item and two drink tickets; vendor booths with generous samples; a silent auction, raffle and 50/50; and an awards reception with complimentary buffet and cash bar.
