What: Locally owned and operated, Cuplux Coffee Drive-Thru is performing extensive renovations to former Nanna’s Coffee shop in order to open Charlotte’s first drive-thru-only coffee shop. Cuplux will soon offer delicious coffees and scratch made beverages conveniently for drivers on the go. The shop will feature double drive-thru lanes, with one lane designated as an express lane.
Where: Located on Freedom Drive between I-85 and West Morehead in the FreeMoreWest neighborhood. Conveniently located for morning commuters coming into Uptown.
Who: Cuplux Coffee Drive-Thru is a family owned business. Phil, Phillip and Ian Kolb are the main owners. Brothers Phillip and Ian are Charlotte locals. Ian will be serving as the day to day manager at the shop.
When: Cuplux is planning on opening for business June 26th, but hopes to have a soft opening sooner.
Cuplux was represented by Christian Staples of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP in its lease negotiations with the landlord. Ryan Conrad of RJS Properties, Inc. represented the landlord.
Offerings Overview
The menu at Cuplux is coffee centric but will feature fresh, local pastries that pair well with drink offerings.
Coffee offerings at Cuplux will come primarily from Stumptown Coffee Roasters, a roaster Ian has worked with since the inception of Cuplux over two years ago. Stumptown, well known for procuring some beautiful, direct trade coffees, has longstanding relationships with its farmers – some spanning nearly two decades. For customers of Cuplux, that will translate to reliable and consistent coffee.
Cuplux will also feature guest roasters exclusively from the Carolinas starting with Charlotte’s own, Enderly Coffee. Tony Santoro, owner of Enderly Coffee Co., said they’re excited to work with Cuplux: "Our coffee will complement Cuplux’s current offerings, allowing people to be introduced to the growing Charlotte coffee scene. Being residents of the Westside, we welcome this community and environment focused company to our neighborhood!"
Besides delicious coffees, approachability and service will be a top priority for Cuplux. “Whether you’ve been drinking coffee your whole life or are having your first cup, our baristas are here to make sure you have an awesome experience” said Ian.
Charlotte Community
In addition to serving great coffee, Cuplux has already become active in the Charlotte community, particularly with nature. In March, they officially unveiled a partnership with TreesCharlotte, a non-profit organization responsible for preserving and enhancing the Queen City’s urban forest.
