CHARLOTTE, NC –– The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Julia May has joined the Charlotte office as an associate in the Bankruptcy practice group.                                    

Before joining Shumaker, Julia practiced in New York at Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP for almost six years before relocating to Charlotte.  Over the course of her practice, she has represented and assisted in the representation of debtors, reorganized debtors, official committees, bondholders, equity holders, indenture trustees, significant secured and unsecured creditors and other parties-in-interest in some of the nation’s largest in-court and out-of-court restructurings. 

Julia has experience handling virtually every aspect of bankruptcy and insolvency matters, from pre-petition matters to post-confirmation litigation.  Her experience includes, but is not limited to, issues related to relief from stay, seeking or defending against appointment of Chapter 11 trustees and examiners, DIP financing, plan confirmation and prosecuting and defending avoidance actions. 

Julia received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and her B.A. from Williams College.
