Christian Staples Joins the Charlotte Regional Association Board for Woodberry Forest School

CHARLOTTE, NC – Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Christian Staples, partner in the Charlotte office, has been appointed to the Charlotte Regional Association Board for Woodberry Forest School.

Woodberry Forest School is an all-male, all-boarding, college preparatory school for grades 9-12 located in Central Virginia and is a member school in the Virginia Prep League. Woodberry was founded in 1889 and the school property was originally the estate of William Madison, brother of President James Madison. The headmaster's residence, known as “The Residence,” is taken from an architectural design by Thomas Jefferson. The Woodberry community is governed by strict adherence to an Honor System which is overseen by the student Prefect Board. The longest-running high school football rivalry in the South takes place each year between Woodberry and Episcopal High School of Alexandria, Virginia, known as simply “The Game.” Woodberry alumni include leaders and influencers in banking, manufacturing, politics, and other industries based in the Tarheel state and beyond.

The Charlotte Regional Association Board coordinates social and fundraising events for alumni, family, and friends of the school.

Christian is a 2001 magna cum laude graduate of Woodberry Forest School. During his time there, Christian served as an editor of The Talon (a literary arts journal), lettered on the varsity golf team, and was a recipient of the Noland Summer Fellowship. Christian maintains a diverse legal practice representing businesses and individuals in litigation, commercial leasing, and general business matters.  He also advises clients in alcoholic beverage law matters.  He is licensed to practice law in all state and federal courts in North Carolina and South Carolina.  He earned his J.D. from Campbell University and his B.A. from Wake Forest University.
