Shumaker Broadens its Community Associations Practice with Addition of Caley Aidif and Sara Jawad

TAMPA, FL – Shumaker welcomes Staff Attorneys Caley Aidif and Sara Jawad to their Community Associations practice group in the Tampa office, bringing with them in-house experience, allowing them to be uniquely able to see things from a clients’ perspective.

“We are excited to have Caley and Sara join us. They will be a great asset to help ensure our clients are receiving first rate legal representation,” said Partner and Community Associations Practice Administrator Jonathan Ellis.

Caley and Sara focus their practices on advising board members and professional managers of condominium and homeowners’ associations in collection and foreclosure cases, covenant enforcement, and bankruptcy and creditors’ rights.

Prior to joining Shumaker, Caley began her career as an Assistant Public Defender, where she represented and advocated for her clients facing criminal charges. Caley later was in-house counsel at a startup airline, as well as a multinational travel and technology company, where she handled a wide range of matters.

Sara previously worked for Legal Services of North Florida providing legal services to low income individuals focused on landlord/tenant disputes and evictions, public housing issues, mortgage foreclosures, Chapter 13 bankruptcies, Social Security Disability appeals, and nursing home eviction. Following Hurricane Michael, Sara assisted in drafting pleadings that were instrumental in preventing wrongful (mostly self-help) evictions and in having utilities turned back on for families living in several apartment complexes throughout the Florida Panhandle.

In addition, Sara’s litigation experience includes handling construction defect cases, real estate fraud, defamation, first-party property insurance claims, and professional negligence.
