COLUMBUS, OH – Shumaker Advisors Ohio, LLC (Shumaker Advisors), is proud to announce that Director of Government Relations and Community Outreach Giovanna Loccisano received the AMVETS Department of Ohio Civil Servant Award at their 34th Annual Legislative Breakfast and Awards Ceremony. Senator Frank Hoagland presented Giovanna with the award, honoring her for her support of veterans and veteran’s programs.

“Giovanna has had the opportunity to not only work with veterans, but also to see firsthand what they are going through,” shared Senator Frank Hoagland. “She deserves this award.”

Giovanna is committed to community service and veteran’s initiatives. Prior to joining Shumaker Advisors, Giovanna served as Senior Legislative Aide in the office of State Senator and retired Navy SEAL, Frank Hoagland, where she was integral in the creation of Ohio’s Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Pilot Program. During her tenure at the Ohio Senate, she was Clerk to both the Senate Veterans and Public Safety Committee and the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and assistant to the co-chairman of the Veterans Caucus.

“I am honored to be one of the youngest recipients of this award and to have had such a positive impact in the lives of Ohio’s veterans and veteran organizations. I’m beyond proud of the work we were about to accomplish during my time with Senator Hoagland and look forward to continuing that work as a part of Shumaker Advisors,“ said Giovanna. “Growing up around so many veterans instilled in me the notion of, “team - teammate - self.” I wouldn’t have been able to do such successful, meaningful work without the support of my team both at the Senate and, now, at Shumaker Advisors.”

Giovanna also served a year as the Public Information Officer for Ohio Homeland Security and the Ohio School Safety Center at the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Giovanna credits both family military ties and a lifelong friendship with the Hoagland family for inspiring her dedication to serving Ohio’s veterans. Although never having served in the military herself, Giovanna has deep ties through her paternal grandfather, Domenick Loccisano, who served in the United States Air Force, maternal grandfather, Jack Randolph, who served in the United States Army Air Corps, and her uncle, Michael Loccisano, who is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and is a United States Army Veteran.

"Giovanna joins governors, Supreme Court justices, retired generals, attorneys general, and a lot of other prominent Ohioans in accepting her award. Her perseverance and focus is a great attribute for Shumaker Advisors and veterans across that state who she works tirelessly to serve," said President of Shumaker Advisors Ohio Andy Herf.
