Former Hillsborough County Commissioner Les Miller Earns “Distinguished Citizen Award”

TAMPA, FL—Shumaker is proud to recognize Lesley “Les” Miller, Jr., Shumaker Advisors Executive Vice President and Principal Local Practice, for receiving the prestigious Distinguished Citizen Award from the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity recently at its 86th Grand Chapter Meeting. 

“The Honorable Les Miller has served this community as an outstanding role model for young men, and receiving this award recognition speaks volumes about his character, honesty, and integrity. In addition, through the years, Les has worked extremely hard to help bring his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., to Tampa. Congratulations!” said Commissioner Gwen Myers.

Les, a Tampa native, is being honored for his long history of public service, spanning five decades. From his service in the United States Air Force to his role as member of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and leader in the Florida Senate and House of Representatives, he has dedicated his life to giving back to his community, state, and country. 

It is truly an honor to receive this award from Kappa Alpha Psi, a fraternity that shares my values of culture, patriotism, and honor,” Les said. “Throughout my career, I have strived to make a positive impact, and I will continue to champion the causes I believe in."

Les joined the Shumaker Advisors team in 2021, and through his work advancing policies and reforms at the public affairs practice, he continues to make a significant difference in Tampa Bay.
