A member of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLPs Corporate and Intellectual Property and Technology Service Lines, Matthew’s practice concentrates on representing public and private companies on corporate and technology-related matters. Matthew regularly advises clients in the technology, manufacturing, automotive, and professional services industries. Matthew’s practice includes an emphasis on privacy compliance, commercial transactions, distributor and supply arrangements, business acquisitions, and corporate governance.  

Prior to joining Shumaker, Matthew clerked for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Vernelis K. Armstrong in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Before clerking in federal court, he served one year as a Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA) in the criminal division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio and prosecuted a variety of criminal cases, including federal Central Violations Bureau (CVB) tickets, general criminal cases, and multi-defendant conspiracy cases.

While attending law school, Matthew was an associate member of the University of Toledo Law Review. He was also actively involved in the Student Bar Association at the University of Toledo.

When not focusing his energy on work, Matthew enjoys spending time with friends and family, visiting national parks, reading, and learning about the latest gadgets and technology.
