As an accomplished government relations officer and lobbyist, Jim brings a wealth of experience and insight to Shumaker Advisors Florida. His primary role is to assist in the development of policy recommendations and goals to help meet client needs by crafting communication strategies and appropriations considerations while helping them navigate local, state, and federal levels of government.
To further the reach of the Shumaker Advisors team, Jim will work to foster and strengthen established relationships with local and surrounding governments, as well as profit and nonprofit organizations. Jim comes to the team with many pre-established connections. After earning his degree in Political Science, he started his career as a Registered Lobbyist and Campaign Coordinator before taking his talents to the Hillsborough County Commission, where he worked as the Government Relations Director and the Intergovernmental Affairs Manager. Jim leverages the deep understanding of government affairs and connections he gained in these previous roles in to assist current clients in reaching their desired governmental outcomes.
Jim is a member of the Florida Association of Professional Lobbyists and is an audit committee member for the Florida West Coast Credit Union. Outside of work, Jim is a member of Tampa Covenant Church.
