Nicholas Malone Selected for Ohio State Bar Association's Leadership Academy

TOLEDO, OH – Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Nicholas D. Malone, Associate in the Toledo office, has been selected to participate in the Ohio State Bar Association’s (OSBA) first class of its Leadership Academy.

The OSBA’s Leadership Academy is designed to identify future leaders in the legal community and provide them with support and training.

Specifically, the OSBA’s Leadership Academy seeks to:

• Identify and train lawyers for future opportunities for leadership in the Association, the profession and in the community;
• Nurture effective leadership with respect to ethical, professional and community service issues;
• Raise the level of awareness among lawyers regarding the broad range of issues facing the legal profession and to build relationships among legal leaders across state and experience levels; and
• Create a cadre of lawyers upon which the OSBA, state and local government entities, local bar associations and community organizations can call on for leadership and service.

Participants were invited by the President of the Ohio State Bar Association and class size is limited to 24 attorneys.  The participants must be in practice for at least 3 years but less then 10 years.

Mr. Malone is a member of the corporate practice group.  His primary areas of practice are mergers and acquisitions, franchising law, and general corporate practice.

Mr. Malone has extensive experience representing buyers and sellers of private businesses and business units.  He also has substantial experience in the formation of corporations, limited liability companies and limited partnerships, commercial transactions, and Ohio liquor license law.

Mr. Malone is a member of the Toledo, Ohio, and American Bar Associations.  He is the chairman of the Toledo Bar Association Young Lawyers Committee, a member of the Toledo Junior Bar Executive Committee, and the Young Alumni Coordinator for the Notre Dame Club of Toledo.

Mr. Malone received his J.D. from Indiana University, Bloomington, and his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
