C. Graham Carothers, Jr. Joins Board of Directors for Seminole Torchbearers

TAMPA, FL – The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, is pleased to announce that C. Graham Carothers, Jr., partner in the Tampa Office, has been elected to the Board of Directors for The Seminole Torchbearers and will serve for a three year term.   The Seminole Torchbearers is an organization comprised of Florida State University students and alumni who are exceptional leaders.   Unique among collegiate groups in the nation, the Seminole Torchbearers enable past and present leaders to maintain their connection with the alma mater in a meaningful way.  Seminole Torchbearers help the University create a nurturing and supportive campus climate enhancing the students’ total educational experience.

Mr. Carothers serves on the Board of Directors for 1Voice Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization, whose mission is to “support children with cancer and their families by connecting them with financial, emotional and educational care while funding research for tomorrow’s cure.” 

Mr. Carothers also serves as co-chair of the firmwide Professional Development Committee, and serves as the Hiring Partner for the firm’s Tampa office.

Mr. Carothers is AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and has also been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America for 2011, 2010 and 2009.  Mr. Carothers founded and is responsible for Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick's Leadership Shumaker program, which pairs attorneys and staff members with not-for-profit charitable and arts organizations in the Tampa Bay area, and involves the firm in various civic and fund-raising events which benefit such organizations.  Leadership Shumaker has raised tens of thousands of dollars for local charities, and facilitated the placement of a number of the firm’s attorneys and staff members in leadership positions throughout the Tampa Bay community.

Mr. Carothers has extensive experience in representing individuals and business entities in a variety of commercial real estate transactions, including the purchase and sale of shopping centers, office buildings, retail centers, multi-family housing projects, hotels, and sports and entertainment complexes, as well as condominium developments and conversions, and large-scale land assemblages.  He also regularly represents land owners and homeowners associations in zoning, wetzoning variances, comprehensive land use plan amendments, and other land use matters before local and state agencies.  Mr. Carothers has broad experience representing landlords and tenants in commercial leasing matters, property owners in complex title insurance matters, and institutional lenders in real estate-based loan transactions.

Mr. Carothers received his J.D., with honors, and his B.S., with honors, from Florida State University.
