Steven M. Berman Participating in JAG Corps Bankruptcy Training

TAMPA, FL – The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Steven M. Berman, partner in the Tampa office, recently participated in a bankruptcy training session with JAG Corps lawyers at Naval Base Coronado, which includes San Diego and Coronado, California. Mr. Berman was invited by Commanding Officer Captain Yancy B. Lindsey, U.S.N., to train the JAG attorneys in basic bankruptcy and consumer finance matters so they will be better able to assist the enlisted personnel and officers at the various Naval bases in and around the San Diego area with bankruptcy and other consumer issues they may encounter. Mr. Berman’s first training session took place August 31st and will be ongoing with the JAG lawyers. Mr. Berman anticipates establishing a formalized bankruptcy intake program for service personnel with bankruptcy/insolvency needs.

Mr. Berman has over 21 years of experience and has focused his practice as a business bankruptcy litigator representing creditors, trustees, committees and business entities litigating disputes in bankruptcy court. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Certification in both Creditors' Rights Law and Business Bankruptcy Law, is a member of both the Florida and California Bars and is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, all California state courts, all federal courts in the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, the federal courts in the Southern and Central Districts of California and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Berman currently serves on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum as well as the California Bankruptcy Forum.

Mr. Berman received his J.D. from University of Florida Levin College of Law and his B.S. in Multinational Business Operations from Florida State University.
