Jennifer B. Compton Elected to the Board of Girl’s Inc. and as Chair of Workforce Innovation and Talent Development Council for Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce

SARASOTA, FL – The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, is pleased to announce that Jennifer B. Compton, partner in the Sarasota office, has been elected to the Board of Girl's Inc. Girls Incorporated of Sarasota County is a local affiliate of a national nonprofit youth organization dedicated to inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold. Girls Inc. fulfills its mission of empowering girls aged five and up to be self-confident, responsible and well-rounded individuals by delivering research-based, age-appropriate, after-school and summer educational and sports programs designed specifically for girls.

Ms. Compton will also Chair the Workforce Innovation and Talent Development Council for the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.

Ms. Compton primarily represents employers and provides assistance in preventative counseling and the defense of litigation brought by current and former employees. Ms. Compton regularly practices in Federal and State courts as well as in arbitration. Areas of defense recently handled by Ms. Compton include claims under the ADA, FMLA, FSLA, ADEA, Florida Whistleblower Act, and Florida Trade Secret Act. Ms. Compton is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law.

Ms. Compton received her B.A. from the University of Florida and her J.D., with honors, from Cumberland School of Law of Samford University.
