Lisa M. Hoffman Co-Chaired Academic Internship Program

CHARLOTTE, NC - Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Lisa M. Hoffman, associate in the Charlotte office, co-chaired the Academic Internship Program, sponsored by the Young Lawyers of Mecklenburg County.  The Young Lawyers of Mecklenburg County work with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools to facilitate the Academic Internship Program in the area of law.  Ms. Hoffman, along with Michael Hoefling of Johnson, Allison & Hord, have co-chaired the program for the last three years.  The students are high school students throughout the various high schools in Mecklenburg County.  The students have to apply to be in the program.   They must be 16 years old at the time of application and have an unweighted GPA of 2.0 or higher.  The program runs approximately 13 weeks.  The students meet once a week during those two weeks for two hours.  Ms. Hoffman and Mr. Hoefling arrange for different attorneys in different areas of law throughout Charlotte to speak with the students.  In addition, they also arrange for the students to have a law school tour and jail tour.
