TAMPA, FL – The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Duane A. Daiker, partner in the Tampa office, has been elected Vice Chair of the Appellate Practice Section of The Florida Bar. Duane previously served as a member of the Executive Council, and as the Secretary/Treasurer for the section. The Appellate Practice Section is an organization of 1,600 attorneys devoted to promoting excellence in Florida’s state and federal appellate courts. The section focuses on enhancing the role and skills of members of attorneys who are engaged in appellate practice by providing continuing legal education, disseminating materials on matters of interest and concern to the appellate community, and through the exchange of ideas among the members of the section.
Duane was also appointed Parliamentarian for the Florida Bar’s Appellate Court Rules Committee. The ACRC is a standing committee of the Florida Bar that considers additions and amendments to Florida’s Rules of Appellate Procedure.
Duane represents individual and corporate clients in a variety of appellate matters in state and federal court, and leads the firm’s appellate practice group. Duane is Board Certified as an Appellate Specialist by the Florida Bar. In addition to his full-time law practice, Duane serves as an Adjunct Professor at St. Petersburg College, teaching classes in law, legal research, and writing. He received his J.D., with high honors, from the University of Florida, and his B.A., with high honors, from the University of Florida, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Florida Law Review.
