Environmental Protection Agency Withdraws Textileather Corp. Corrective Action Order

COLUMBUS, OH –  On Jan. 23, 2015, Region V of the United States Environmental Protection Agency withdrew a RCRA corrective action order issued to Textileather Corporation for a former vinyl manufacturing plant located in Toledo, Ohio, and reissued a virtual copy of the order to the City of Toledo, Ohio.

U.S. EPA‘s unusual action was the result of many months of negotiations between Textileather Corporation, the City of Toledo and ultimately U.S. EPA.  The agency’s action facilitated the sale of the property from Textileather to the City of Toledo, who will now be responsible for implementing the remedy once it is selected by U.S. EPA and intends to use the site as part of its redevelopment program.

Textileather Corporation was represented by Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick attorneys Louis E. Tosi, Michael J. O’Callaghan, and Reed Hauptman; the City of Toledo was represented by City of Toledo attorney Eileen Granata; and, U.S. EPA was represented by Associate Regional Counsel Brian Barwick.  For further information, please contact Lou Tosi at 419-241-900 or ltosi@shumaker.com.
