Toledo, Ohio – The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, is pleased to announce a leadership transition. David F. Waterman, who has served the firm for the past 24 years as Chairman of the Firm’s Management Committee, will transition out of this role. Waterman will continue his full time practice and will serve as an adviser to the Firm’s Management Committee. He will also continue to serve the Toledo community as Chairman of the 2015 Northwest Ohio United Way Campaign and other community Board and leadership positions.
During Waterman’s tenure Shumaker experienced significant growth and became a NLJ Top 350 Firm and Am Law 200 Firm. These designations rank law firms by number of attorneys and revenue. The firm also expanded into Columbus, Florida and North Carolina including the establishment of a Sarasota office in 2009 marking the firm’s fifth office.
“It has been a pleasure to lead Shumaker through periods of great growth and expansion due to our involvement with preeminent clients in this country with operations internationally. I know the firm is in good hands, is in a solid financial position and poised for continued success” Waterman said.
Succeeding Waterman are Benjamin R. Hanan and Thomas P. Dillon, who will take over as Co-Chairs of the Firm’s Management Committee. Hanan heads up the firm’s Sarasota office and is a corporate lawyer and CPA. Dillon, who leads the Toledo office, is a litigator representing businesses in complex disputes. He began his legal career in Chicago and has been with Shumaker since 1992. He is AV Peer Review rated by Martindale, recognized by Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers, and is a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America.
