Erin Smith Aebel Was a Panelist at the 20th Annual Compliance Institute

TAMPA, FL – The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, is pleased to announce that Tampa partner Erin Smith Aebel, Co-Chair of the Tampa Health Law Department, was a panelist at the 20th Annual Compliance Institute April 17-20, 2016 in Las Vegas.  Erin and fellow panelist, Lester J. Perling of Broad and Cassel, discussed “Physician Pharmacy Ventures: What Are They and What Are the Compliance Risks.”

Erin is Co- Chair of one of the largest health law practices on the West Coast of Florida with nine Florida health law regulatory lawyers, including two board certified health lawyers, and 32 other Florida lawyers that practice in the health care industry.  Additionally, Erin is certified as a health law specialist by The Florida Bar and named Tampa Bay Business Journal 2014 Businesswoman of the Year – Legal Services.  Her clients include physicians, physician group practices, diagnostic imaging centers, pharmacies, clinical laboratories and medical spas.  She regularly advises clients on Stark and fraud and abuse, HIPAA and licensure issues arising from joint ventures, acquisitions and changes of ownership.  Erin regularly prepares and negotiates physician employment agreements, physician recruitment agreements and medical director agreements.  She is frequently involved in licensure and scope of practice issues for her clients, including weight loss clinics, medical spas and other aesthetic medicine ventures. Erin received her J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Loyola University.
