TOLEDO, OH – The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Michael M. Briley was the 2017 recipient of The Martin-Willinger Award presented by the Toledo Bar Association. The award is given annually for outstanding support of the Pro Bono Program. Mike was recognized at the Toledo Bar Association’s Pro Bono & Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on October 13, 2017. Over the past twenty-five years, Mike has handled numerous pro bono adoption cases and established a system to work with third parties to reduce or waive court fees for his pro bono clients when they cannot afford to pay them.
Mike is a partner in the Toledo office. He has served in numerous leadership positions at the Ohio State Bar Association, including Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Antitrust Law Section, Section Vice-Chair and Section Secretary. Mike is a member of the American Bar Association's Antitrust Law Section and is an Adjunct Professor of Antitrust Law at the University of Toledo. He serves on the Ohio Supreme Court Board of Bar Examiners, which is responsible for developing, administering, and grading the Ohio bar examination. Mike is a recipient of The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law’s Community Service Award.
Mike received his J.D., cum laude, from the Ohio State University College of Law and his B.A., with distinction, from Miami University.
