TAMPA, FL –– Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Tampa partner Erin Smith Aebel was a presenter at the Health Care Industry Conference of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Orlando on April 20, 2018. Erin presented on Healthcare Mergers and Acquisitions on a panel moderated by financial advisor William Cummings alongside Lions Eye Institute CEO Jason K. Woody and investment banker Keith Hodgden from Hyde Park Capital. The conference provided education and networking opportunities for CPAs and financial professionals practicing in the health care industry.           

Erin is certified as a health law specialist by The Florida Bar and named Tampa Bay Business Journal 2014 Businesswoman of the Year – Legal Services.  Her clients include physicians, physician group practices, diagnostic imaging centers, pharmacies, clinical laboratories and medical spas.  She regularly advises clients on Stark and fraud and abuse, HIPAA and licensure issues arising from joint ventures, acquisitions and changes of ownership.  Erin regularly prepares and negotiates physician employment agreements, physician recruitment agreements and medical director agreements.  She is frequently involved in licensure and scope of practice issues for her clients, including weight loss clinics, medical spas and other aesthetic medicine ventures. Erin received her J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Loyola University.
