Ed boasts more than 20 years of experience in high-level management positions in both the public and private sector. Most recently, he served as senior advisor to the President and CEO of Port Tampa Bay (Port), one the nation’s largest ports. During his tenure, Ed oversaw all strategic coordination with senior management, represented the Port to key business and community stakeholders, handled all protocol matters, including embassy and consulate outreach, and headed the communications department. He also helped to create multiple events and conferences hosted by the Port, including the Tampa Bay Safety and Risk Mitigation Summit, Fresh from Florida Export Summit, and Building Florida’s Future.
Ed previously served in the George W. Bush Administration as Senior Advance Representative in the Executive Office of the President for Advance and Operations at the White House. He has advised both the President and the Vice President on U.S.-based and foreign visits. In his role at the White House, Ed was responsible for the coordination, execution, and implementation of Presidential visits, both U.S.-based and throughout the world. Additionally, he has planned and implemented events and summits worldwide including:
- Presidential inaugurations
- Asia Pacific Economic Summit
- G-8 Summit
- 2008 Beijing Olympics
- G-20 Summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy
He continues to serve in an advisory capacity to the current administration as advance lead for the President and Vice President's visits domestically and internationally. Ed was honored to serve the President when he travelled to Italy and the Holy See, where he met the Prime Minister of Italy and His Holiness Pope Francis and recently in assisting the Vice President in his trip to Bogota, Colombia where he met with President Duque of Colombia and Interim President Guaidó of Venezuela.
In addition, Ed has also served as a key member to several governors, including Governor Schwarzenegger, in California, as Deputy Director of Advance, Governor Rick Scott as the director of scheduling and operations during his transition, and then as the State of Florida’s Chief of Protocol. He also assisted current Governor Ron DeSantis during his campaign, inaugural and his first month in office.
Prior to his political and public service, Ed spent 15 years in the tourism industry working for companies both large and small, including Clear Channel Entertainment and Wyndham Worldwide. He also worked in the cruise industry as an assistant cruise director for both Princess and Royal Caribbean cruise lines, where he sailed the seven seas.
Originally from Southern California, Ed is proud to call Tampa Bay his home. He is the proud father of two wonderful children.
