Francis Morency

Associate

A conscientious and diligent client advocate, Francis is a member of the Litigation and Disputes Service Line. He focuses his practice on Chapter 7, Chapter 13, Chapter 11, and Subchapter V bankruptcy cases and related adversary proceedings.

Francis’ diverse legal experience, as well as his involvement with a variety of student organizations during law school, lends him a unique perspective and is a value added to his clients. A graduate of the Washington and Lee University School of Law, Francis was the Managing Editor for the Washington & Lee Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice, Vol. 28, served as a Burks Legal Writing Scholar and a Research Assistant, and earned a book award in Core Uniform Commercial Code.

Francis also held internships with the Bankruptcy Division of the U.S. Southern District Court of Florida, Botetourt Circuit Court, NextEra Energy, and with Shumaker as a summer associate. Additionally, he served as a Student Attorney for a Small Business Start-Up Practicum. All of these experiences led Francis to develop a budding passion for assisting businesses navigate complex legal processes across various stages of growth.

Francis spent several years as a Middle School Civics and Law Studies Teacher in Miami, Florida before attending law school. In his free time, Francis enjoys cooking meals from different cultures and spending time with his partner and two dogs.
