TAMPA, FL – Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Kathleen G. Reres, an associate in the Tampa Office, has been named Chair of the firm’s Leadership Shumaker Tampa program.  Leadership Shumaker is an internal group of attorneys and staff that plan and participate in community involvement events and fund raising events to benefit and improve our neighborhoods, aid our most economically disadvantaged citizens, and promote education and the arts.

Over the last several years, from internal fundraisers alone, Leadership Shumaker Tampa has been able to raise and award over $50,000.00 to support various charitable projects and organizations such as A Brighter Community, American Heart Association Heart Walk, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Children’s Dream Fund, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the Mayor’s Beautification STEPs Program.  However, Leadership Shumaker is not just about writing checks.  Its members have shown their willingness to get involved in the community through volunteering with organizations like Paint Your Heart Out, Metropolitan Ministries, the Boys and Girls Club of Tampa, and the Ronald McDonald House.

Ms. Reres intends to make 2010 a landmark for Leadership Shumaker’s community involvement.  She received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2008 and chose to work at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP based in part on the firm’s demonstrated commitment to improving the Tampa Bay area and supporting its deserving underprivileged.
