SARASOTA, FL – The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, is pleased to announce that Jennifer B. Compton, a partner in the Sarasota office, has been selected for Leadership Sarasota County.  Leadership Sarasota County's program includes both community immersion and training, educating participants in "how things work" in our community and our county.  Participants learn about the roles that business, government, the arts and not-for-profit institutions play in making Sarasota County a great place to live and work - and participants have ongoing opportunities to make an impact in the community themselves by learning where and how to get involved in current and ongoing issues.

Ms. Compton primarily represents employers and provides assistance in preventative counseling and the defense of litigation brought by current and former employees.  Ms. Compton regularly practices in Federal and State courts as well as in arbitration.  Areas of defense recently handled by Ms. Compton include claims under the ADA, FMLA, FSLA, ADEA, Florida Whistleblower Act, and Florida Trade Secret Act. Ms. Compton is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law.

Ms. Compton received her B.A. from the University of Florida and her J.D., with honors, from Cumberland School of Law of Samford University.
