Jenifer A. Belt and Malinda R. Lugo Spoke at Gulf Coast Health Information Management Association's Educational Symposium

TAMPA, FL – The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, is pleased to announce that Jenifer A. Belt, partner in the Toledo office, and Malinda R. Lugo, associate in the Tampa office, spoke at the Gulf Coast Health Information Management System’s education symposium on May 18, 2013 at the Shriner’s Hospital in Tampa.  Jenifer presented on “How to Survive a Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) Audit” and Malinda presented on “Legal Risks Associated with Cutting and Pasting in Electronic Medical Records.”

Jenifer serves as co-administrator of Shumaker’s Healthcare practice group. Her practice includes both transactional and litigation matters for a range of health care providers, including health systems, hospitals, long term care providers, physician groups, physicians, and health care networks.   She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® and is a recipient of the 20 Under 40 Leadership  Award.  Jenifer received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Toledo College of Law and her B.A, cum laude, from Miami University.

Malinda practices in the firm’s health law and litigation departments. Her practice includes representing health care providers on issues related to state and federal health care matters including regulatory and licensure matters, electronic health records, HIPAA compliance and breach notifications, negotiation of contracts, and other general business litigation.  Malinda received her J.D., cum laude, from Florida State University College of Law and her B.S. in Criminology from Florida State University.
