Sarasota, Fla. – The Sarasota and Tampa, Fla. offices of Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick, LLP, a full-service business law firm, raised more than $6,500 for local charities at its annual Halloween Partner Auction and costume contest, held last week.
Each year the Sarasota office offers its associates and staff the opportunity to bid on partners in the firm. The winning bidders get to choose the costume that the partner will wear on Halloween. The Sarasota auction raised $3,000, allowing the firm’s philanthropic arm – Leadership Shumaker – to donate to local nonprofit Family Promise.
In Tampa, the firm raised $3,565 from its auction, which will be donated to a nonprofit next month.
Winners of the costume contest in Sarasota included: Funniest – Mark Hildreth as Cinderella; Scariest – Stephanie Robinson as Maleficent; Most Original – Jami Maginness, Katie Mellor, and David Haight as sports trophies; and Best Floor – the 10th floor with a “Goodfellas” restaurant theme.
Winners of the costume contest in Tampa include: Best Workspace – Vicki Wray; Cutest – Stephanie Rae as Paper Doll; Funniest – Todd Timmerman and Tom Wood as cheerleaders; Most Original –Steve Berman as Stevo; Best Individual Costume – Jennifer Raleigh as CDC hazmat worker; Best Group Collaboration – Tampa paralegals as clairvoyant paralegals; and Best Overall – Erin Aebel as Aebel Laboratories and their operating room.
In addition to Family Promise, Leadership Shumaker Sarasota is also supporting SPARCC and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Suncoast.
