A member of the Litigation and Disputes Service Line, Ali focuses on business litigation, white-collar defense, and corporate investigations. He prides himself on working efficiently and diligently, being respectful to colleagues and clients, and ensuring excellent results. Clients benefit from his personalized approach to representation, as well as the fact he is trilingual; English, Arabic, and Spanish. 

Prior to joining Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, Ali founded Latif Law, LLC where he zealously represented clients’ interests. Ali’s extensive experience includes business law, public policy, criminal, divorce, and immigration law. 

Ali also believes in giving back to the community. While growing his practice, he volunteered over 220 hours with the Legal Aid Society of Columbus and was recognized for his hard work with the 2019 LASC/CBA/CBF New Attorney Pro Bono Award. In addition, in law school, he was selected by his law school graduating class as a “person you would most want representing you in the courtroom.”

In his free time, Ali enjoys spending time with his wife, reading, doing yoga, hiking, and traveling as much as possible

  • Conducted an internal investigation of a multi-million dollar public company into allegations of unlawful transactions with phantom entities, improper dealings, and falsifying revenue. As a result, the company, its directors, officers, and employees were cleared of any wrongdoing.
  • Oversaw research and development of a bicycle ticket diversion program for Mayor Michael B. Coleman’s Office of Environmental Stewardship. Communicated with over 20 cities and universities nationwide, researched legal steps necessary for implementation, met with city officials, and issued final opinion on the program’s feasibility.
  • Drafted a very persuasive Cancellation of Removal Brief for a client who was in removal proceedings with the United States Immigration Court. The brief successfully raised legal defenses as to why client could not be stripped away from her United States citizen son who was battling a rare heart condition. With respect to the same case, organized all of the exhibits and drafted trial questions.leading to a favorable outcome for the client.   
  • Obtained very favorable settlement for client in acrimonious divorce matter that had been ongoing for over a year and a half, with multiple children, properties, and financial interests.
  • Assisted local business owner with nationwide trademark infringement matter, sent effective cease and desist letters and worked across state lines with other companies and lawyers to cease their practices of infringement.
  • Helped dozens of immigrants obtain legal permanent residency and citizenship as efficiently and effectively as possible. 
  • Advised several local small businesses in startup and formation matters.
