SARASOTA, Fla. – Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, a full-service business law firm with offices in Sarasota and Tampa, Fla., hosted an employment law seminar on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 8 – 10:30 a.m. at The Francis in Sarasota.
Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick attorneys Jason Collier, Florida Bar board certified in labor and employment law; Jennifer Roeper, Florida Bar board certified in immigration and nationality law; and Daniel Strader, specializing in employment law and civil litigation, presented on various subjects for employers.
More than 60 attended the seminar to hear topics that included the latest Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) guidance on employment applications and background checks, intellectual property (IP) ownership issues for employers and an immigration update with tips and trends for employers along with a question-and-answer period.
Collier represents employers in a wide variety of employment issues, including wage and hour litigation, discrimination actions, restrictive covenant and trade secret claims, among others. He also advises clients regarding compliance with employment laws.
Roeper handles all aspects of immigration law including employment and family based temporary visa processing, applications for permanent residence and naturalization. She assists corporate clients in maintaining compliance with U.S. immigration laws, and serves as counsel for clients requiring waivers of inadmissibility and for those facing deportation from the U.S.
Strader practices in the areas of employment law and civil litigation.
