Axelrod Presents at 33rd Annual American Bar Association Tax Conference

COLUMBUS, OH – David Axelrod, litigation partner in the Columbus office of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, presented on December 8, 2016 at the 33rd Annual National Institute on Criminal Tax Fraud and the Sixth Annual National Institute on Tax Controversy.

The presentation entitled “The Next Wave: The Government’s Focus on US Investments to Evade Foreign Taxes” was prepared by David and Columbus associate Brian Coulter. It addressed several initiatives, including new and proposed rules, as well as proposed legislation, through which the Obama administration seeks to crack down on foreign tax evasion through U.S. financial institutions.  The presentation touched on areas such as new bank customer due diligence rules, a proposed expansion of U.S. money laundering laws to cover foreign offenses, and proposed legislation that would expand the government’s investigative powers in money laundering cases.
