TAMPA, FL – Shumaker Associate Sean Bevil has been elected president-elect of the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s (HCBA) Young Lawyers Division (YLD), where he will be sworn in June 2, 2022, beginning his a one-year term before becoming president in 2023. Sean has been a member of the YLD Board of Directors since 2020.

“Sean has been a tremendous asset to the HCBA YLD Board for many years. He brings a strong work ethic, expert knowledge and understanding of our programming, a positive and uplifting personality, and a welcoming and inclusive nature that our board relies on to truly support our members. He will be an incredible president and lead our young lawyers into a bigger and better HCBA YLD,” said outgoing Young Lawyers Division President, Alex Palermo.

“I’m thrilled to serve alongside Sean and the other members of our Board in this next Bar year,” said incoming Young Lawyers Division President, Lyndsey Siara. “I know Sean will continue to serve with passion, thoughtfulness, and dedication to our mission. I look forward to watching him shine as he continues in service to our members!”

The Hillsborough County Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division is comprised up of about 1,000 members who are younger than 36 years of age or have been practicing fewer than five years. The mission of the YLD is to support the initiatives and goals of the HCBA, promote professionalism and ethical conduct, provide guidance and support to new lawyers, provide educational opportunities for members, organize programs and events of interest to young lawyers, and encourage community involvement.

Sean is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Community Association practice groups, where he takes on a wide variety of issues and disputes. As a former prosecutor with significant trial experience, Sean takes a very practical approach to litigation when it comes to efficiently managing a case and tenaciously arguing his client’s issues.
