Dan is a member of Shumaker's Wealth Strategies Service Line, where he advises clients on a broad range of trust and estate administration, business formation and succession, and tax planning matters. He pairs his legal knowledge with business acumen to help individuals and families protect their assets and plan for the future.
Before practicing law, Dan worked as a general manager and engineer in his family's aircraft engine maintenance business. He collaborated with counsel on commercial agreements, regulatory compliance, and litigation strategy, and later helped guide the successful transition and sale of the business—experience that gave him a practical perspective on the complexities of succession planning.
Dan earned his law degree summa cum laude from The University of Toledo College of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Law Review and received 16 Highest-Ranking Student awards. During law school, he externed with the Ohio Attorney General's Office and the Honorable Jeffrey J. Helmick of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. He also holds an M.B.A. from The University of Toledo and is a graduate of The Ohio State University.
Outside the office, Dan enjoys life with his wife, who also owns a family business, and their three boys. He can often be found cheering them on at the baseball and soccer fields, spending summer days at the lake, or occasionally taking to the skies as a licensed pilot.
