Kelley M. Petcavich

Associate

An experienced attorney with deep ties to the health care industry, Kelley concentrates her practice on defending health care providers in medical malpractice cases. She has successfully represented health care providers and institutions in state and federal courts, as well as before professional licensing boards. Her litigation experience includes prevailing on dispositive motions and navigating complex legal issues involving peer, risk, and quality review privileges, particularly those arising under North Carolina's Hospital Licensure Act and the federal Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005.

Drawing on her personal connection to the medical field—her spouse is a physician, and several or her family members work as health care providers—Kelley brings a deep appreciation for the vital role health care professionals play in their communities. Her approach to litigation is strategic, informed, and empathetic—anchored in a deep respect for the medical profession and reinforced by her strong command of the legal frameworks that safeguard it. Kelley understands the dedication and sacrifices inherent in the practice of medicine and considers it both an honor and a privilege to advocate for her clients' interests in legal disputes.

Outside of the office, Kelley enjoys spending time with her family, reading, avoiding learning to cook, and advocating for the continued use of the Oxford comma.
