A member of Shumaker's Litigation & Disputes Service Line, John works with clients to devise creative, outside-the-box strategies for resolving their disputes.
Drawing on deep experience across several areas of litigation, John brings a well-rounded perspective to his practice. Prior to joining Shumaker, he practiced primarily in construction litigation and some business litigation at another Tampa-area law firm, where he focused on suretyship, professional liability disputes, and construction lien enforcement and defense. He has handled complex cases ranging from construction lien foreclosures and bankruptcy matters to indemnity and subrogation claims and civil theft, with a track record of securing favorable results for his clients.
A proud alumnus of Florida State University, John earned both his J.D. and a B.S. in Political Science from the institution. He originally attended law school with the intention of becoming a sports agent, but he fell in love with the law during his coursework and decided to pursue a career as an attorney.
Outside of work, John enjoys strolling down the Tampa Riverwalk with his fiancé, Cailin, and their golden retriever, Buggy; watching sports; weightlifting; reading; supporting local restaurants; and watching movies with his movie club.
