DADE CITY, FL — Matthew E. Maggard, Managing Partner of Shumaker's Dade City office, has been named Chair of the Committee on Trustees and Governance for the Saint Leo University Board of Trustees for 2025–2026. As Chair, Matt will focus on advancing the Catholic university's mission to provide students with a transformative, values-centered education while developing the character, learning the skills, and assimilating the knowledge essential to becoming morally responsible leaders.

Matt is dedicated to serving the community in which he lives and works. His legal practice focuses on city and local government representation, as well as real estate, development, construction, and financing transactions. At Shumaker, he is a member of the Public Policy & Government Affairs; Real Estate, Construction & Development; and Litigation & Disputes service lines. He currently serves as City Attorney for the City of Zephyrhills and the City of Indian Rocks Beach, in addition to his roles as Hearing Officer and Special Magistrate for Pasco County.
Matt's proven track record of litigation success has led to long-term relationships with clients who trust him for counsel in business, real estate, litigation, estate planning, and probate matters. He is known for his philosophy of building strong client relationships rooted in trust, advocacy, and accessibility.
Beyond his professional work, Matt has spent more than a decade giving back to his hometown community through leadership in local organizations. He has served as President of the East Pasco Bar Association, President of the Dade City Rotary Club, and Past-Chair of the Board for the Greater East Pasco Chamber of Commerce, where he played a vital role in merging the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce with the Greater Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce.
