Shumaker Attorneys Receive Board Certification

TAMPA, FL – Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Gregory-Scott R. Haney and Mindi M. Richter, partners in the Tampa office, have received board certification from the Florida Board of Legal Specialization and Education.  Certification is the highest level of recognition by The Florida Bar of the competency and experience of attorneys in their particular area of practice.

Gregory has been certified as a Real Estate Law Specialist. There are only 34 attorneys in Tampa and 459 in the State of Florida with this certification.   Gregory has substantial experience in handling the negotiation, financing, title, and all other aspects of commercial real estate transactions involving shopping centers, office buildings, retail centers, medical office and healthcare facilities, multi-family housing projects, and hotels, as well as related land use issues. Gregory received his J.D. with Honors from the University of Florida in 1995 and his B.S. with Honors in Finance from Louisiana State University in 1991.

Mindi has been certified as an Intellectual Property Law Specialist. There are only 17 attorneys in Tampa and 132 in the State of Florida with this certification.  Mindi has counseled clients in the areas of trademark selection, registration and protection, as well as trade secrets, copyright, patent, and internet matters. Mindi has experience in litigating intellectual property matters of all types, both in the United States Patent and Trademark Office as well as in state and federal courts across the country. Guiding clients in negotiating, developing and drafting licenses, assignments and other intellectual property contracts is another area of her experience.  Mindi received her J.D., manga cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2004 and her B.A. in Journalism from Indiana University in 2001.
