Tampa Attorney to Moderate Panel at Association for Canadian Studies Conference

Tampa, Fla. – Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP attorney Andrew McIntosh will moderate a panel at The Association of Canadian Studies in the United States (ACSUS) Conference on November 20, 2013. The panel will discuss NAFTA’s influence on business and is one of several topics being discussed at the three and a half day long conference held at the Tampa Marriott Waterside & Marina.

As a member of the bars of both Ontario and Florida, McIntosh provides representation to clients involved in cross-border business.  He is a member of the firm's international practice group.

“I consider it a true privilege to be able to serve the community by taking part in this important conference,” said Andrew McIntosh. “The trade relationship between the United States and Canada is only strengthened by promoting the exchange of ideas and providing business leaders with the tools necessary to allow their businesses to thrive internationally. I get very excited about business opportunities that create jobs, and that is truly what this conference is about at its core,” said McIntosh.

From 2005 to 2012, Andrew served as Honorary Consul of Canada for Florida, pursuant to the Government of Canada's "Enhanced Representation Initiative."  His role has been to facilitate trade and investment activities through the Canadian Consulate General at Miami, assisting Canadian businesses with interests in Florida, and U.S. firms desiring to do business in Canada.

In addition to his practice at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, McIntosh is also a co-founder of Cross Border Partners Advisory Services, which provides project management, and consulting services to businesses seeking to expand their platform through exports or direct investment.  The work of Cross Border Partners compliments Andrew's law practice and supports efforts for the benefit of clients and the community as a whole.

The Association for Canadian Studies in the United States (ACSUS) is a multi-disciplinary membership based organization committed to raising awareness and understanding of Canada and the bilateral relationship. ACSUS supports research and academic activity through its publications, conferences, and grant programs; promotes the academy through active advocacy and outreach; and positions the community by profiling the scope and diversity of research undertaken by the ACSUS membership in the humanities and social sciences.
