SARASOTA, Fla. — Jennifer Compton, a partner and board certified labor and employment attorney with the full-service business law firm Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, will be installed as the Girls Inc. of Sarasota County board president on Wednesday, Oct. 1 with a one-year term.
Along with the executive director Robin Rose, Compton will help steward the nonprofit to ensure it’s reaching the maximum amount of girls with the National Girls Inc. curriculum.
Compton was a lifeguard at Girls Inc. of Sarasota County as a Cardinal Mooney student. She joined the board of directors in 2011 and completed her third year, most recently as board vice president for two years.
“There is something special about Girls Inc. of Sarasota County,” said Compton. “It is a place where each girl can be exactly who she is and wants to be, regardless of family situations, socio-economic status or other external influences. I see the difference our programs make in the girls’ lives and know there are no limits to their success.”
Compton focuses on employment law counseling and litigation. She primarily represents employers and provides assistance in preventative counseling and the defense of litigation brought by current and former employees. She also works with executives separating out from local, regional and national employers, including the areas of severance and restrictive covenants. She is a frequent lecturer on employment law and litigation issues for employers.
