TAMPA, FL – The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Steven M. Berman and J. Todd Timmerman, partners in the Tampa office, were guest lecturers at the University of Florida College of Law Advanced Bankruptcy Seminar on March 20, 2015.  Steve and Todd spoke about Intellectual Property Claims in Bankruptcy.

Steve has over 25 years of experience and has focused his practice as a business bankruptcy litigator representing creditors, trustees, committees and business entities litigating disputes in bankruptcy court.  He is Board Certified by the American Board of Certification in both Creditors' Rights Law and Business Bankruptcy Law, is a member of both the Florida and California Bars and is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, all California state courts, all federal courts in the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, the federal courts in the Southern and Central Districts of California and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.  Steve currently serves on the Board of Directors for the California Bankruptcy Forum.  Steve received his J.D. from University of Florida Levin College of Law and his B.S. in Multinational Business Operations from Florida State University.

Todd chairs the firm’s Intellectual Property Law Practice Group and is certified as an Intellectual Property Law Specialist by The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education, and practices in the firm’s Intellectual Property Law, Corporate, and Litigation Practice Groups.  His practice spans a wide range of transactional and litigation matters for the firm’s clients. He maintains an extensive intellectual property and information technology law practice, focusing on trademark, copyright, and patent protection and litigation, intellectual property licensing, and intellectual property, information technology, and other business transactions.  Todd received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Florida in 1992, and his A.B. from Dartmouth College in 1989.
