Warren Kean Honored With Distinguished Service Award From North Carolina Bar Association

CHARLOTTE, NC –  The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Warren P. Kean, partner in the firm’s Charlotte office, has been honored with the Business Law Section Distinguished Service Award by the North Carolina Bar Association. The award recognizes extraordinary service and contributions to the Bar and the public.

Kean chaired the committee of the North Carolina Bar Association that drafted the new North Carolina Limited Liability Company Act (NCGS Chapter 57D), and he currently chairs the Business Law Section’s new LLCs and Other Unincorporated Business Entities Committee.  Kean is past chair of the subcommittee of the LLCs, Partnerships and Unincorporated Entities Committee of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association that drafted the ABA Model Multi-Member LLC Operating Agreement and is the past chair of the Tax Committee of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section.

Kean also is chair of the LLC Legislation and Official Commentary subcommittee of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Business Law Section.

Kean focuses his practice on matters relating to limited liability companies, partnerships, and other unincorporated entities and the taxation of those entities. His practice emphasizes the representation of privately-held companies, venture capital and private equity financings, strategic alliances and joint ventures, the negotiation and structuring of mergers and other transactions, and the design and implementation of equity incentive plans and agreements.  He also co-chairs the firm’s transactional tax practice group.
