TAMPA, Fla. — Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick, LLP  business law attorney Leonardo M. Dosoretz recently handled the acquisition of Florida Avenue Brewing Company on behalf of Tampa-based Brew Bus Brewing, Inc.

Brew Bus is taking over Florida Avenue Brewing Company’s location in Tampa’s Seminole Heights neighborhood, a move that will mean 13,000 square feet of space for the business that brews its own beer and offers brewery tours throughout Florida.

“The craft beer industry in the U.S. is growing quickly, and Florida has seen a corresponding uptick in the last five or 10 years,” Dosoretz said. “For an area like Tampa to have several breweries is really special, and Brew Bus has a unique business model.”

The new space, which prior to housing Florida Avenue Brewing was a Kash n’ Karry store, will allow Brew Bus to have on-site brewing operations, a tasting room and an additional centralized Tampa starting point for tours.

“We’re already doing initial planning for renovations like raising the ceilings, putting in a new 30-foot bar and adding an outdoor beer garden,” Brew Bus owner Anthony Derby said. “Our goal right now is to be ready by mid-February.”

Derby met Dosoretz through The Tampa Connection, a leadership development and community service program for business professionals in the area, and Derby decided he would be a good fit for Brew Bus’ Florida Avenue Brewing transaction.

“We’re working on quality now and making sure our beer is the best quality it can be,” Derby said. “We want to open up something the neighbors like and enjoy.”
