TAMPA, Fla. — Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick, LLP business law attorney Darrell C. Smith and his team recently handled the acquisition of the Tampa-based drug developer Xcelience by Capsugel, a global leader in delivering high-quality, innovative dosage forms and solutions to its customers in the healthcare industry.

Xcelience works with pharmaceutical clients to meet their global clinical outsourcing needs for the manufacturing of new products.

Smith has represented Xcelience since the company was founded in 2006. He also represented the company regarding its purchase in Powdersize. Powdersize is a Pennsylvania-based manufacturer co-owned by Xcelience that specializes in milling and micronization services for pharmaceuticals. Capsugel also acquired it in the transaction.

Smith represents public and private businesses ranging in size from small to large companies. He has extensive experience assisting clients with mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiations, legal compliance and securities matters.
