Shumaker Announces Growth in Columbus Office

COLUMBUS, OH – Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP ushers in the next era for the firm with the announcement of a leadership transition in the Columbus office, addition of a new healthcare attorney and a newly created business development position.

  • Michael A. Snyder has been named managing partner of the firm’s Columbus office. Michael is a member of the firm’s litigation and environmental law practice groups.  He regularly advises manufacturers, energy companies, commercial landlords, franchisors, and other businesses on environmental, health & safety matters, commercial litigation, and regulatory disputes with government entities. His appointment to managing partner comes on the heels of Michael Born’s demonstrated legacy over the past 18 years in this role.

  • Kelly A. Leahy joined Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP as a partner in the healthcare practice group. She advises clients on healthcare reform, compliance with fraud and abuse laws, the Stark Law, Medicare and Medicaid rules, HIPAA and other federal and state laws and regulations. Kelly’s legal experience includes serving for nearly a decade as in-house counsel to a multi-hospital healthcare system with numerous affiliated businesses and she combines her legal skills with a wealth of health care operations knowledge.

  • Erin W. Hawk joined as the firm’s first Chief Business Development Officer for the state of Ohio. In this newly created role, Erin is leading client development efforts for the firm’s Columbus and Toledo offices, targeting and securing new client relationships while working to grow business from existing clients for the firm in Ohio and beyond. In addition, Erin will work with firm management on client feedback initiatives, and train and coach attorneys in Columbus and Toledo to develop their business development skills.
