Shumaker Attorneys Co-Hosting Italian Interactive Dinner For Make-A-Wish

MANATEE, Fla. — Make-A-Wish of Central and Northern Florida is hosting a four-course interactive Dishes for Wishes dinner event on April 8 at Polo Grill and Bar in Lakewood Ranch.

Attorneys Saralyn Abel Dorrill and Meghan O. Serrano, from the full-service business law firm Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick, LLP, are co-chairing Dishes for Wishes.

Proceeds from the event, which has a Bella Italiano theme, will go toward fulfilling as many wishes as possible for area children with life-threatening medical conditions.

The Dishes for Wishes event is the first of its kind in Manatee County and will include a live and silent auction with numerous specialty items that capitalize on the cooking theme, including small high-end cooking appliances and fine cookware.

Each of the four courses will be paired with wine, and guests will participate in the cooking of the prepped and pre-measured ingredients at their table.

“This event is loud, fun and not stuffy at all,” Dorrill said. “You cook courses in pairs, including a flaming dessert, so you really get to know your tablemates. And the money raised at the event stays right here and funds wishes for families in the area.”

During the event, two local wish recipients and their mother will share their stories. Jenna Rose’s wish to go on a Disney cruise with her family came true two years ago. Her sister Jordan’s wish to have a dolphin encounter was made possible by Make-a-Wish of Central and Northern Florida as well.

Tickets for Dishes for Wishes are $150. They can be purchased at www.dishesforwisheslwr.com.
