TAMPA, Fla. — Appellate specialist Duane A. Daiker from the full-service business law firm Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP was recently elected chair of the Appellate Practice Section of The Florida Bar.
Daiker was installed for a one-year term during The Florida Bar’s annual meeting on June 16 at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek. With 10 years of service within the organization, he has served in numerous leadership positions, including vice-chair, secretary-treasurer and continuing legal education coordinator, among others.
“It’s an honor to be elected to this position by my peers in the Appellate Practice Section,” said Daiker. “I’m thankful for the opportunity to work with some of the best appellate attorneys and judges in Florida to further the mission of the Appellate Practice Section.”
Established in 1993, the Appellate Practice Section is a 1,700-member organization comprised of Florida lawyers and judges. The organization is devoted to promoting excellence in state and federal appellate practice through study, continued legal education, increased public awareness, and exchange of ideas.

About Duane A. Daiker
Daiker has been board certified by The Florida Bar as an Appellate Practice Specialist since 2007. His practice extends to all state and federal appellate courts in Florida, including the Florida Supreme Court. He previously served as Chair of the Appellate Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Daiker was first elected to the Executive Council of the Appellate Practice Section of The Florida Bar in 2012 and served in numerous leadership roles before becoming chair. He is also serving his second term as a member of the Appellate Court Rules Committee.
In addition to his appellate practice, Daiker regularly represents clients in commercial litigation matters, with an emphasis on representing sureties in payment, performance and fiduciary bond claims.
Daiker has served as an adjunct professor at St. Petersburg College since 2000, teaching classes in law, legal research and legal writing. While at the University of Florida, he was the editor-in-chief of the Florida Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. Daiker has an “AV” Preeminent peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
