TAMPA, Fla. — David J. Slenn has joined the full-service business law firm Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP as an estate planning, business planning and tax attorney.
Slenn is a sought-after source in national media on captive insurance company and controversial fraudulent transfer issues. He has been quoted in the New York Times, Bloomberg, Tax Analysts and Inc.com regarding these issues.
Slenn is currently serving a three-year term as chair of American Bar Association’s (ABA) Captive Insurance Committee and is a former Chair of the ABA’s Asset Protection Planning Committee from 2010-13. He was appointed as an ABA Advisor to the Uniform Law Commission Drafting Committee for the Uniform Voidable Transactions Act (formerly, the Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act), which has been enacted in nine states so far.
Slenn is a frequent speaker on captive insurance, asset protection, estate planning and more. He has been invited to speak at numerous forums, including the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, the Tax and Estate Planning Forum, the Delaware Bankers Association’s Delaware Trust Conference, the American Law Institute, the Casualty Loss Reserve Seminar, the Western Region Captive Insurance Conference and the Joint Fall Meeting of the American Bar Association’s Tax and Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Sections.
He has contributed to a variety of publications, including Pratt’s Journal of Bankruptcy Law, Bloomberg Law Reports, Leimberg Information Services and the ABA’s Probate & Property magazine.
