Frederick (“Derick”) M. Thurman, Jr. Elected Vice Chair of the Labor and Employment Section of the Mecklenburg County Bar

CHARLOTTE, NC - Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, is pleased to announce that Charlotte partner Frederick (“Derick”) M. Thurman, Jr. has been elected Vice Chair of the Labor and Employment Section of the Mecklenburg County Bar. The Mecklenburg County Bar (MCB) is the 26th Judicial District subdivision of the North Carolina State Bar whose mission is to serve the public and the Bar members in improving and preserving the administration of justice, and to assist the North Carolina State Bar as described by statutory requirements.                                                       

Derick has extensive experience practicing employment law, labor law, and commercial litigation, including appellate briefing and arguments in federal and state courts, jury trials, arbitration, and hearings before various government agencies. His practice also encompasses non-litigation matters, such as personnel policy drafting and review, employment contract drafting and review, and employment law compliance counseling.

Derick is a past Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. He also previously served as Vice Chair, CLE Chair, and Secretary.
