David B. Singer to Lead Land Use and Zoning Practice at Shumaker

Singer and Matt Newton to the firm.

David B. Singer works with clients seeking to do business both in the private and public sectors and counsels clients on the proper strategies for successful interactions with city and county government agencies and officials. He represents clients before city and county entities on a wide range of issues, including zoning, land use, comprehensive planning, economic incentive eligibility, developments of regional impact, permitting issues and issues relating to elections and election law. David also works with clients seeking to obtain alcohol beverage licenses in Florida on both the licensing and zoning components.  David earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan.

Matt Newton has guided clients through numerous complex land use and zoning challenges, structured creative legal strategies for both new and growing businesses, and has resolved a wide variety of legal disputes through both traditional litigation and alternative strategies. Matt’s experience also extends to state and local election and political law, including campaign compliance and recount navigation. Matt has additionally worked on civil rights matters through his diverse pro bono work, and has provided commentary on legal controversies in the media.   Matt received his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law and his B.A. in Classical Studies from New College of Florida.
