CHARLOTTE, NC - Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, is pleased to announce that Charlotte Partner Frederick (“Derick”) M. Thurman, Jr. has been appointed Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Mecklenburg County Bar for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. Derick is also a past chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association (2007-2008).

Derick has extensive experience practicing employment law, labor law, and commercial litigation, including appellate briefing and arguments in federal and state courts, jury trials, arbitration, and hearings before various government agencies. His practice also encompasses non-litigation matters, such as personnel policy drafting and review, employment contract drafting and review, and employment law compliance counseling.
