CHARLOTTE, NC – Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Timaura E. Barfield has joined the firm’s Charlotte office as an associate in the Health Care practice group.

Timaura’s practice focuses primarily on defending health care providers in medical malpractice cases and before regulatory authorities. Through the mentorship of experienced medical malpractice lawyers, coupled with her significant legal research and writing background, she has proven to be a passionate lawyer for the clients she represents.

Timaura graduated cum laude from the Elon University School of Law. While in law school, she served as a member of the Moot Court Board, an Executive Editor for the Elon Business Law Journal, the Vice President of the Black Law Student Association, and an Honor Council Defender. Additionally, she was a recipient of the Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP Diversity Scholarship. Timaura was a Dean’s Scholar, an Academic Teaching Fellow, and a research assistant for two professors. During her law school graduation, she won the David Gergen Award for Leadership and Professionalism, which is an honor bestowed upon a student whose contributions have embodied the highest ideals of selfless leadership and service. Timaura completed a legal externship at a top tier law firm and was a summer associate at Shumaker prior to joining the firm upon graduating from law school. Prior to law school, Timaura worked as a paralegal at a boutique firm in the Washington, DC area.
