Three Shumaker Attorneys Appointed to The Florida Bar Diversity and Inclusion Standing Committee

TAMPA, FL – Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Tampa Partner Michele Hintson and Sarasota Associates Erin Hope Christy and Jade Davis have been appointed to the Florida Bar’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. The mission of the committee is to increase diversity and inclusion in The Florida Bar so that the Bar will reflect the demographics of the state, to develop opportunities for community involvement, and to make leadership roles within the profession and The Florida Bar accessible to all attorneys, including those who are racially, ethnically and culturally diverse, women, members of the LGBTQ community and persons with disabilities. “We are proud to have three women appointed to the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Florida Bar,” said Jennifer Compton, Managing Partner of Shumaker’s Sarasota office. “As a firm we remain deeply committed to diversity and inclusion and are excited to see our attorneys take active roles within this Florida Bar Committee.”

With more than 15 years of experience, Michele Hintson is a seasoned business litigator and Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator who dedicates her practice to representing individuals and a variety of businesses, including insurance companies, for profit entities, and health care organizations, with their litigation needs. She also works closely with transactional attorneys to analyze risk during the inception of a business relationship, and engages with clients in various industries both during and after litigation. Working with plaintiffs and defendants in litigation, she focuses on all aspects of the dispute resolution process.

Erin Hope Christy’s principal areas of practice are residential and commercial real estate transactions, zoning and land use law. She has represented clients in a wide range of transactional real estate matters, including representing individuals and businesses in the acquisition, development, leasing, and sale of residential and commercial properties. Erin’s land use and zoning practice also encompasses representing land owners in connection with re-zonings, variances, special exceptions and conditional use approvals. She is a frequent speaker on waterfront property issues and, as a native Sarasotan, enjoys helping families make Sarasota their home through the purchase of their first home, their vacation home, or their forever home. 

As a member of the firm’s Litigation practice group, Jade Davis focuses her practice on the areas of commercial and business litigation. She represents individuals, small businesses and large corporations. Tenacious and strategic, she counsels her clients through numerous phases of litigation and works steadfast to represent her clients’ interests thoroughly. Jade prides herself on providing top notch customer service and care to all of her clients.
